The Down-Leau is located in DOWNtown TrempeaLEAU - right on Main Street! (pronounced down-low). We LOVE a good play on words!
Our space includes a building constructed in 1890, with an art-deco decor inspiration. We have an outdoor patio with seating and a train caboose (currently under construction!).
We offer coffee & espresso drinks, pastries, sandwiches & paninis, ice cream, grab-and-go meals and snacks - as well as locally curated gift shop items and merch! We offer gluten free, reduced sugar and vegan options on our menu - and we truly hope you can find something you love!
The Down-Leau is for gathering, for coming together, and for finding common ground(s). It is a place for kindness and delicious food & drinks. Stop in and stay awhile, or swing through on your way to work or the incredible outdoor adventures that await you in Trempealeau!
The Down-Leau was established in 2026 and co-owned by husband and wife, Kyle & Caryn Breunig (that’s us!); we’ve called Trempealeau ‘home’ since 2021; having spent the prior 10+ years in La Crosse…and all our lives right here in Wisco! We have two dogs Duck (coon hound!) and Figgy (super mutt!) and an orange cat named Nigel. Our ‘other’ business is called Fat Duck Designs - where Kyle creates woodworking pieces and Caryn works with polymer clay to create earrings. Fat Duck Designs items are available to purchase at The Down-Leau! :)
